The Starfleet Intelligence devision is tasked with gathering and analyzing information concerning neighboring powers in the galaxy. Its officers are involved in many undercover operations, often at the risk of their lives, deep into enemy territory. This department comes specifically into play during a threat to Federation security, i.e. impending war.
